ALLY Foundation Founder Andrea Casanova Honored with 2012 Advocate for Change Award

On Friday, October 12th, 2012, It Happened to Alexa Foundation honored Andrea Casanova, Founder of The ALLY Foundation with the 2012 Advocate for Change Award at The Ritz-Carlton in Boston MA.

It Happened to Alexa Foundation, founded by Tom and Stacey Branchini, honors the courage of their daughter Alexa, who survived a traumatic rape by a stranger who broke into her college dormitory the second week of her freshman year.

It Happened to Alexa Foundation provides family members or trusted friends financial assistance to be able to attend a court trial with their loved one who has been a victim of rape or sexual assault.  The Foundation offers assistance to defray costs of transportation and housing, so that the victim’s support person can attend and take part in the criminal justice proceedings and be with them at this most difficult time. It Happened to Alexa Foundation's mission is to encourage sexual assault victims to report any sexual assault to law enforcement and promote effective prosecution of sex crimes.
